She had her start in music business with the rockabilly formation Susi & die Rockets, which also participated in the ZDF-Hitparade in 1981 with the song Dieses Haus ist kein Bahnhof (German version of Sweet Lolita from the British rockabilly band Matchbox).

The king of Miami, Florida's Cuban music scene, the late Ray Fernandez, fronting his family band which included his wife and two sons. They proved to be a highly influential group on the latin music scene of the late seventies - they were was highly versatile and easily shifted from salsa to cuban funk and even reggae.

Tom Petty admired the bassist deeply. Muddy Wilbury called the Booker T. and the M.G.'s member “one of my great idols” and “one of the best musicians I’ve ever met.” The Ain’t No Sunshine player did the magic bass on the Stevie Nicks–Tom Petty hit “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” His distinctive style is part of the track’s sound.
