On September 29, 1998, Jay-Z came out with Vol.2... Hard Knock Life, his 3rd album. This won the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Jay-Z had boycotted the Grammys, however, because DMX was not nominated in the category. The other nominees were A Tribe Called Quest, Big Pun, Jermaine Dupri and Mase.
