On December 11, 1983, Run-D.M.C. release their second single, "Hard Times," a song about financial struggles. It's the first rap song to get covered by another hip-hop group, having first appeared on Kurtis Blow's debut album in 1980. On May 15, 1986, the Run-D.M.C group. came out with Raising Hell, their third and last good album. Chuck D of Public Enemy considers Raising Hell to be the greatest hip-hop album of all time, and the reason he chose to sign with Def Jam Records. On March 27, 1984, the group Run-D.M.C. released their first self-titled album. It was the first hip-hop album that reached gold status. This opus allowed hip-hop artists to stop being seen as just 12'' creators. Le 27 mars 1984, le groupe Run-D.M.C. sortait leur 1er album éponyme.
