On May 10, 2018, responding to the #MuteRKelly campaign, Spotify removes R. Kelly and XXXTentacion from playlists as part of a new policy against "hate content" and "hateful conduct." On April 30, 2018, the #MuteRKelly campaign picks up steam when Ava DuVernay tweets her support. The campaign is designed to marginalize R. Kelly, who has been accused of sexual misconduct. On July 11, 2019, Kelly was arrested on federal charges alleging sex crimes, human trafficking, child pornography, racketeering, and obstruction of justice. Kelly faces a total of 22 federal counts, including child pornography, kidnapping and forced labor, as of January 29, 2021. As a result, he is currently incarcerated at Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago. He has collaborated in the past with Keith Murray, Nas, Jay-Z, The Game, Ludacris, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, The Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J, 50 Cent, Noreaga, Devin The Dude, Ja Rule, Slick Rick, Doug E.
