On November 18, 2008, Ace Hood released Gutta, his debut album. In 2007, he met DJ Khaled in front of the office of radio WEDR 99 Jamz. After Hood gave Khaled an autobiography and demo, Khaled asked Hood to freestyle the instrumental to his song I'm So Hood from his second album, We the Best, and then signed Hood on his We the Best Music Group label.
