1 - Telly Savalas - Who Loves Ya Baby (1976)
De 1973 à 1978, il était le fameux Kojak dans la série de CBS du même nom. Il a aussi fait des disques avec un chant-parlé à la Sprechgesang (Leonard Cohen, Joe Dassin, Jean-François Maurice, Bob Dylan), la musique est bonne alors ça aide à faire passer son spoken word beaucoup trop suave.

L'ex formation de Marurice White (RIP) poursuit son chemin et je salue l'initiative du fondateur de leur avoir laissé le nom d'origine pour ainsi rapporter des top dollaz à sa succession. Ils feront la première partie, à Montréal le 5 juillet, du Commodores (jusqu'en 1982) Lionel Richie pour une soirée The Assembly Line à Brazilian Rhyme, je rêve un peu, je sais.
Maurice White's (RIP) former band continues on its path, and I applaud the founder's initiative in letting them keep the original name, thus ensuring heirs have a lot of money. They will be opening for Lionel Richie (of the Commodores until 1982) in Montreal on July 5th for The Assembly Line evening at Brazilian Rhyme. I know, I'm dreaming a little.

Encyclopedia Hip-Hop a consacré le 23 janvier un épisode au groupe de Brooklyn actif de 1983 à 1992. Leur simple le plus connu est « Roxanne, Roxanne », un classique du hip-hop qui a fait sensation sur la scène hip-hop peu après sa sortie et a inspiré un nombre record de 25 reprises en une seule année (« Roxanne Wars »), qui en auraient finalement engendré plus de 100.

Ugly American Werewolf du 24 janvier leur a dédié son épisode. Il s'agit d'un groupe australien formé à Sydney en 1980. Initialement associé au new wave, anéo-psychédélisme et rock indépendant, leur musique a ensuite évolué vers des tempos plus lents et des paysages sonores surréalistes rappelant le rock alternatif, dream pop et post-rock.

Leurs morceaux ont été échantillonnés par des centaines d'artistes, de Jungle Brothers, Diamond D, Company Flow aux Pussycat Dolls, si vous cherchez bien. Flaming Lips et Super Furry Animals en sont deux exemples pour les influencés. Mais le groupe chez qui on perçoit le plus de leur adn est : Daft Punk.

Un retour culte du hip-hop mollo, beats funky et esprit old school remis au goût du jour en 1997. Album de la réconciliation s'il en est un, de 1988 à 1992, on parle de 4 disques classiques alors ce retour était très attendu et n'a pas du tout déçu les fans, bien au contraire. C'est une réussite sur toute la ligne avec des apparitions de Das EFX, Keith Murray, Nocturnal, et Redman. Disponible chez phono.ca

C'est le nom de scène de Morten Martens, un musicien et réalisateur basé à Kristiansand, en Norvège. Son style mélange la soul classique, le r&b et des sonorités de type "old school". Ce titre est le premier extrait de son deuxième album intitulé Fading Forward, dont la sortie est prévue pour le 10 avril avec Big Crown Records.

WAP (What A Predicament) est le premier simple du duo psych-rock composé de Les Claypool et Sean Ono Lennon, sorti le 20 janvier dernier. Il s'agit de leur premier titre inédit en sept ans, depuis leur album South of Reality paru en 2019. Les experts musicaux s'empressent de préciser qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une reprise de Cardi B, mais selon moi, c'est un clin d'œil évident à la chanson de Megan Thee Stallion sortie en 2000, qui utilise le même acronyme mais dont le titre a une signification bien différente.
