In 1968, she was discovered by Shuji Terayama and Koji Teramoto, and gave her first solo concert at the underground theater "Scorpio" in Shinjuku, lasting three days. She was a heavy smoker and smoked on stage, and is depicted smoking in many portraits.

Elle a interprété la chanson en direct sur Top of the Pops alors qu'elle était enceinte de sept mois. Une première version de « Buffalo Stance » figurait en face B du single « Looking Good Diving » de 1986, produit par Stock, Aitken et Waterman, et réalisé par le duo Morgan-McVey, composé de Jamie Morgan et de son futur mari, Cameron McVey.
She performed the song live on Top of the Pops whilst seven months pregnant. An early version of "Buffalo Stance" appeared as the B-side on the 1986 Stock, Aitken, and Waterman-produced single "Looking Good Diving" by duo Morgan-McVey, which was made up of Jamie Morgan and her future husband Cameron McVey.
