On September 18, 2023, we unfortunately learned about the death of cartoonist Joe Matt. Peepshow is the title of a 1992 comic book collection and an autobiographical comic strip by American cartoonist Joe Matt, both published by Drawn & Quarterly. The book collects comics published in various publications before the Peepshow series began. The first installment was serialized beginning in September 1987, before being compiled into a 1992 book, initially published by Kitchen Sink Press and later Drawn & Quarterly. In his autobiographical comic strip Peepshow, Joe Matt examines his poor social skills, his addiction to pornography, his cantankerous and sometimes physically abusive relationship with his then-girlfriend Trish, and the lingering effects of his Catholic upbringing. In 2004, HBO began developing an animated series based on The Poor Bastard, a collection of stories from Peepshow #1 to #6, directed by Matt and David X. Cohen.

In the 1960s, McCallum recorded four albums for Capitol Records with music producer David Axelrod: Music...A Part of Me (Capitol, 1966), Music...A Bit More of Me (Capitol, 1966), Music... it's happening now! (Capitol, 1967) and McCallum (Capitol, 1968). The best known of his tracks today is "The Edge", which was sampled by Dr. Dre as the intro and riff to the track "The Next Episode". McCallum's version of "The Edge" appears on the soundtracks of the 2008 video game Grand Theft Auto IV and the 2017 film Baby Driver. McCallum did not sing on these records, as many stars of television in the 1960s when they were offered recording contracts. Aswad members are British descendants of Caribbean immigrants. They attended John Kelly / Holland Park School. Aswad was established in 1975 in Ladbroke Grove, West London. Initially, the group produced music in the vein of Roots reggae, with members contributing songs individually and Brinsley Forde acting as the group's primary songwriter. However, the group dynamic quickly began to change. Shortly after the release of their self-titled debut album in 1976, Courtney Hemmings left and was replaced by Tony "Gad" Robinson (the only time in the band's history that a departing member would be officially replaced by a new musician). The two singles from their first album are titled Back To Africa and Three Babylon. The group is still active with Tony "Gad" Robinson as the only original member.

On November 17, 2023, Colemine / Remined re-released the 1969 album Cleveland Blues which was first released during the April 2023 RSD. Fred Davis, often called Dave, was a dedicated and inspired guitarist who was tragically killed in 1988 when he was the victim of an armed robbery at the age of 49. He was born in the Arkansas Delta. His family moved to Kansas City. His father worked on the railway. He had at least one brother. And he went to Lincoln High School in Kansas City, which was at the time the elite school for, quote, "students of color," a selective high school. He was a brilliant and talented person.
