Black Sugar

On January 26, 2023, it was the release of the six-episode cooking series Maestro Chef Wes with Maestro Fresh Wes. I heard about it on Lord Jamar's podcast, in my quest to listen to interesting podcasts even if it's a crackpot doing the interview. It's called summer with too many of my usual podcasts taking a break. After an interview with Dante Ross, he and Lord Jamar worked together on Brand Nubian, I listened to the interview with Maestro Fresh Wes. His debut album, Symphony in Effect in 1989 with Attic / LMR, was the first platinum-certified album for a black Canadian artist. At age 15, in 1983, he met DJ Ron Nelson, who promoted Williams' music as Melody MC with Ebony MC as rap group Vision MC's on his radio show, 88.1 CKLN-FM. In 1988, he officially adopted the name Maestro Fresh-Wes and recorded the independent demos You Can't Stop Us Now (still unreleased) and I'm Showin' You.

Le 16 mars 2023, c'était la réédition de l'album Black Sugar II par le groupe Black Sugar. L'originale date de 1974 avec la péruvienne Sono Radio alors que la réédition est l'oeuvre de Discos Monterey en Espagne. Le groupe Black Sugar a été actif de 1968 à 1975 en sortant deux albums. Ils sont aussi connus sous le nom de Los Far Fen qui a été actif de 1969 à 1971 avec trois 45 tours. Matasuna Records a présenté en 2019 la toute première réédition officielle du 7 pouces « Viajecito / Too Late » de Black Sugar. Initialement sorti en 1971, le simple est l'un des 45 tours latino-américains les plus demandés. Il n'est donc pas surprenant que de nos jours, les 7 pouces en bon état soient extrêmement rares et ne soient disponibles qu'à plus de quatre cents dollars. Les deux morceaux ont été entièrement remastérisés à Lima au Pérou et sonnent mieux qu'en 1971. En 1970, Black Sugar est issu du groupe "Los Far-Fen", fondé en 1969 par le guitariste Victor "Coco" Salazar et le claviériste Miguel "Chino" Figueroa.

On March 16, 2023, it was the reissue of the album Black Sugar II by the group Black Sugar. The original dates from 1974 with the Peruvian label Sono Radio while the reissue is the work of Discos Monterey from Spain. The group Black Sugar was active from 1968 to 1975 releasing two albums. They are also known as Los Far Fen which was active from 1969 to 1971 with three 45s. Matasuna Records presented in 2019 the very first official reissue of the 7 inch "Viajecito / Too Late" by Black Sugar. Originally released in 1971, the single is one of the most requested Latin American 45s. So it's no surprise that these days, 7-inchers in good condition are extremely rare and only available for over four hundred dollars. Both tracks were fully remastered in Lima, Peru and sound better than they did in 1971. Black Sugar emerged from the band "Los Far-Fen", founded by guitarist Victor "Coco" Salazar and keyboardist Miguel "Chino" Figueroa.

Le 16 juin 2023, il a été annoncé que le Royal Podcast était relâché par Spotify. Meghan Markle et le prince Harry, comme l'a rapporté The Wall Street Journal, Spotify ne renouvellera pas son accord de plus de 20 millions de dollars avec le podcast du duo Archewell Audio. De pas beaucoup de sujets qui intéressent les auditeurs, apparemment. 

On June 16, 2023, it was announced that the Royal Podcast was let go by Spotify. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, Spotify will not be renewing their over $20 million deal with the duo's podcast Archewell Audio. The newspaper published a wider follow-up which painted a picture of the royal family as two people who neglected to do much to fulfill the many lucrative media contracts which also made them very wealthy. On June 20, 2023, several executives from Turner Classic Movies (including Executive Vice President Pola Changnon, who had worked for Turner for more than 25 years) were released by the channel's current owner, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), in in connection with layoffs affecting the United States. The network was to be moved under the supervision of Cartoon Network head Michael Ouweleen, and it was reported that there were plans for more synergies and cross-promotion of TCM with the rest of the network group. The layoffs have raised concerns about the channel's future, with filmmakers Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Paul Thomas Anderson holding a meeting with WBD CEO David Zaslav to discuss it. Ça se parlait sans arrêt les uns par dessus les autres. Ce n'est pas que je n'aime pas The Offspring, je les ai vu en spectacle pas plus tard qu'en novembre 2022. La bouteille a été baptisée « HenNassy » – la première fois que la marque a renommé un produit. On September 8, 2023, Music For Kids will be released by The Folk Implosion. Lou Barlow and John Davis are The Folk Implosion as they are releasing a new album of music they composed for the 1995 Larry Clark and Harmony Korine film, Kids. The disc opens with "Natural One" - the iconic song the band composed for the Kids soundtrack - and also includes Unkle's remix of the track. Although it did not appear in the film, "Natural One" was the most popular song from the soundtrack - and Barlow's career - peaking at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Music for Kids includes versions newly remastered of all the songs the duo wrote for the film, including B-sides and previously unreleased tracks. The Folk Implosion reappeared after a 19-year hiatus last year with the single "Feel It If You Feel It". Their last LP was 2003's The New Folk Implosion. Barlow's band Sebadoh released Act Surprised in 2019.

3 - Ned Doheny - Get It Up For Love (1976)

Groupe jazz belge avec entre autre le saxophoniste Jacques Pelzer qui a aussi fait parti de Saxo 1000. Michel Graillier lui avait fait ses débuts avec Jean-Luc Ponty alors que Steve Houben a pris part au trio HLM avec Maurane.

5 - Paolo Ormi - Interazione (1974)

De l'album de type library jazz funk Tastiere qui n'a jamais été réédité et qui vaut plus de 300$ avec l'étiquette italienne Jubal. Aussi connu sous le nom de Red Redford, il a également fait parti de Bus Connection en compagnie de Gianni Boncompagni.

6 - Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Freaks For The Festival (1975)

Saxophoniste jazz qui a influencé des artistes aussi divers que Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Bjork et Ian Anderson. Selon l'humoriste Jay Leno, lorsqu'il a tourné avec Kirk en tant que première partie, Kirk le présentait en disant: "Je veux présenter un jeune frère qui connaît l'expérience noire et sait tout sur les diables blancs...
