Smokin' Grooves

On July 22, 1996, The Smokin' Grooves tour, the first major hip-hop traveling festival, kicked off a 33-date trek with a show in Sacramento, California. Artists include A Tribe Called Quest, Fugees, Cypress Hill and Busta Rhymes.

Le 22 juillet 1996, la tournée Smokin' Grooves, le premier grand festival itinérant de hip-hop, a donné le coup d'envoi d'un trek de 33 concerts avec un spectacle à Sacramento, en Californie. Les artistes incluent A Tribe Called Quest, Fugees, Cypress Hill et Busta Rhymes.

Soft Machine

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
