Idris Muhammad

On July 29, 2014, Jazz drummer Idris Muhammad, born Leo Morris, dies at age 74. From his 1977 album Turn This Mutha Out, the track Crab Apple was sampled by Schoolly D, K-Solo, 2Pac and Grand Puba.

Le 29 juillet 2014, le batteur de jazz Idris Muhammad, né Leo Morris, décède à l'âge de 74 ans. De son album Turn This Mutha Out de 1977, le morceau Crab Apple a été échantillonné par Schoolly D, K-Solo, 2Pac et Grand Puba.

Soft Machine

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
