War - Heartbeat

On June 16, 1975, the band War released Why Can’t We Be Friends? The song Heartbeat was sampled by Ice-T, Nice & Smooth, MC Solaar, Madlib and Pete Rock. From their 4th album, All Day Music, the song Slippin’ Into Darkness was sampled by King Tee, Mantronix, Poor Righteous Teachers and Ministere A.M.E.R. From 1976 but containing recordings from 1969 and 1970, the album Love Is All Around features the song Magic Mountain which was sampled by De La Soul, Stezo, Portishead and DJ Shadow. The 1978 film Youngblood soundtrack contained the song Sing A Happy Song which was sampled by Brand Nubian, Dream Warriors, Legion of Doom and Ultramagnetic MC’s.
