Eddie Murphy

Born April 3, 1961, it is Eddie Murphy's birthday. On the Saturday Night Live tv show, his most famous characters were Buckwheat, Gumby and Mr. Robinson, a parody of Mister Rogers that the renown children's entertainer found amusing. His two comedy shows Delirious and Raw are recognized to have influenced many comedians. For several years, he lined up box office hits: 48 Hrs, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, The Golden Child, Coming to America, Harlem Nights and Boomerang. His first flop was The Distinguished Gentleman and The Adventures of Pluto Nash was his worst failure in cinema. His comeback in 2019 came with Netflix and Dolemite is My Name, he also returned to SNL after a 35-year absence.

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
