Lakim Shabazz

On March 13, 1989, the Hip House - 20 Hip House Hits compilation was released. Despite the titles, several hip-hop songs can be found here. This is the case of Jungle Brothers with Straight Out Of the Jungle, it seems that the rights for I'll House You were too expensive. MC Bam Bam has the song Wind Me Up that was released with the Pow Wow Records label, best known for their dance releases. Lakim Shabazz offers Getting Fierce on this comp, showing once again that for Tuff City Records if a dollar is there, Aaron Fuchs will take it. Lakim Shabazz released the albums Pure Righteousness in 1988 and The Lost Tribe of Shabazz in 1990. He is one of the original members of the Flavor Unit.

Soft Machine

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
