1 - Walter Washington - Goody Man
Il était un chanteur et guitariste américain basé à La Nouvelle-Orléans. Bien que ses racines soient dans le blues, il a mêlé l'essence du funk et du r&b pour créer un son unique. Encore adolescent, il a été invité à jouer dans le groupe de Lee Dorsey. Au début de ma vingtaine, je l'ai rencontré grâce à la compilation « Ain't No Funk Like N.O. Funk » de Bullseye, une branche de Rounder.
He was an American singer and guitarist, based in New Orleans. While his roots were in blues music, he blended in the essence of funk and r&b to create his own unique sound. Whilst still in his teens, he was invited to play in Lee Dorsey's band. In my early 20s, I got to know him with the Ain't No Funk Like N.O. Funk compilation from Bullseye which was a division of Rounder.

Love Keeps Me Crying / Not Now But Later était seulement sorti en version promo en 1967 avec Wand, une division de Scepter. Jusque dans les années 2000, on pensait qu'il s'agissait d'un titre inédit, mais grâce à Adrian Croasdell, directeur d'Ace / Kent Records, un 45 tours original a finalement été exhumé. Autre rebondissement : la véritable identité du chanteur était en réalité celle de l'auteur-compositeur-interprète Tommy Keith (The Rimshots), mais cela n'a pas encore été prouvé, d'autres affirmant qu'il ne s'agissait pas de la même personne. Ce dernier a fait paraître You Ain't Been Loved / Loving You Comes Easy en 1978 avec Vibration / All Platinum.

3 - Wanda Dee - Blue Eyes
Elle a fait partie de Zulu Nation Cosmic Force, le gros cochon à Afrika Bambaataa ne s'intéressait pas à elle parce que lui ce qui l'attire / l'attirait c'est les petits gars. Elle avait débuté comme DJ avec Kool Herc et c'est lui qui lui a donné son surnom de scène. Son premier album n'a pas vu le jours avant 2003 avec Goddess Empire Record Label, sa propre étiquette alors qu'en 1989 la sortie du disque avait été annulé par Tuff City.
