Bif Naked, le groupe d'Alan Frew, The Strumbellas, Talib Kweli, Pink Martini et Sister Sledge monteront sur scène à le lieu animé situé au cœur de la ville. Croyez-moi sur parole, quelqu'un dans le hip-hop canadien interpolera Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone) ou The Thin Red Line et aura un gros succès avec une ou l'autre.

2 - The Alchemist

Mensa, DJ Lazyboy et DJ B-Bad.

Malcolm Mooney, le premier chanteur du groupe vit à Calgary depuis 2010. Depuis 2015, il est professeur de peinture abstraite à l'Université des Arts de l'Alberta et expose ses œuvres partout dans le monde. Il a enregistré des albums avec The Tenth Planet de San Francisco, Ava Mendoza et avec le compositeur Sean Noonan.

Esoteric Funk est le premier et unique album du claviériste. Il est sorti en 1977 sur le label de jazz indépendant Inner City Records aux États-Unis après sa sortie avec East Wind au Japon. Il a été enregistré avec l'aide de James Mtume et Reggie Lucas.

Le 15 juin, le MC de Rock The Bells a sorti son premier simple de l'année, Saturday Night Special, avec Rick Ross et Fat Joe. Réalisée par Q-Tip, la chanson assume son rôle de rappeur adulte et sera incluse dans le 14e album à venir de l'icône du hip-hop, The Force.

Open Channel est le 2e album de Claude VonStroke sous cet alias, il fait suite à l'éponyme de 2017. Ce dernier a marqué le coup d'envoi de son départ du champ gauche de son alias plus connu, en livrant une collection de collaborations et d'instruments ralentis et émotifs ou autrement présentés comme une musique hip-hop extraterrestre.
Open Channel is Claude VonStroke's 2nd album under this alias, following 2017's self-titled album. The latter marked his departure from left field from his better-known alias, delivering a collection of collaborations and slowed down, emotive instrumentals or otherwise presented as alien hip-hop music.

Janel Leppin et moi avons eu un concert au Fringe Festival à D.C. et le batteur de Fugazi faisait un set avec un bassiste le même soir, alors nous avons partagé l'affiche. «Nous parlions et il m'a dit qu'il venait me voir. Et j'ai été surpris car il est venu à un hommage à Danny Gatton auquel j'avais participé au Birchmere. Alors j’ai dit : « Oh, tu aimes le jazz redneck ? » Et il a répondu : « Ouais ! J’adore The Telemaster !’ Alors nous nous sommes bien entendus immédiatement.
“What happened,” the guitarist Anthony Pirog explains, “was that I was doing a lot of playing around D.C…..I was pretty busy, and I didn’t know that our upcoming drummer Brendan Canty had been to my shows. Janel Leppin and I had a show at the Fringe Festival in D.C. and the Fugazi drummer was doing a set with a bass player the same night, so we shared a bill. “We were talking, and he told me he was coming out to see me. And I was surprised because he came to a Danny Gatton tribute that I had taken part in at the Birchmere. So I said ‘Oh, you’re into redneck jazz?’ And he said,‘Yeah! I love The Telemaster!’ So we hit it off right away.”
