On August 11, 2023, we went to La Foire du Vieux Sainte-Rose (in the northwest of Laval), there were many exhibitors, especially for crafts, but around 6 p.m. there were more exhibitors than visitors, it was airy. We didn't buy anything, I looked for a blue toilet paper roll cover that would have been knitted but for my 80 year old mother who is in great shape and who likes Club Les Fermières style crafts. Then, head to La Marquise in Laval-Ouest for ice cream. A nice place, which has a wide choice with fast service (sometimes it's the customers who are slow to choose their order in front of the large selection). Finally, we ended the evening at the Centre de la Nature in Laval to see Shaina Hayes (the opening act) and Salomé Leclerc perform. It was a free show that started at 8 p.m., we left the Centre de la Nature around 10 p.m. A beautiful evening because the place is enchanting for a musical show in summer. Many parks in Laval now tolerate alcool with a full meal.

Nous n'avons rien acheté, je cherché un couvre rouleau de papier de toilette bleu qui aurait été tricoté mais pour ma mère de 80 ans qui est en super forme et qui aime bien l'artisanat du style Club Les Fermières. Ensuite, direction La Marquise à Laval-Ouest pour de la crème glacée. Un bel endroit, qui un vaste choix avec un service rapide (c'est parfois les clients qui sont lents à se brancher devant la sélection). Finalement, nous avons terminé la soirée au Centre de la Nature pour voir en spectacle Shaina Hayes et Salomé Leclerc. C'était un spectacle gratuit qui débutait à 20h, nous sommes sorti du Centre de la Nature vers 22h. Une belle soirée car l'endroit est enchanteur pour un spectacle musical en été.
Le 18 août 2023, nous nous sommes rendus au Festival Mosaïque de Laval qui se tenait dans le quartier Saint-François. Nous avons assisté au spectacle de Marco Calliari (qui était invité surprise à 18h) et Élage Diouf a suivi à 19h. Nous nous sommes pas resté pour le spectacle complet du chanteur d'origine sénégalaise car nos activités du lendemain matin s'en venait vite et surtout l'appel de la crème à glace (Crèmerie Banane Royale Arc-En-Ciel). Au moins, il faisait beau pour une rare fois cet été alors nous en avons bien profité. Le lendemain, nous devions aller voir Urban Science Brass Band et Nomadic Massive au même festival mais ça été annulé à cause de (surprise...) la pluie. Organisé par La Centrale des Artistes, ce festival en était à sa 3e édition. Ils organisent aussi les Zones musicales à Laval, la Grande Fête des Pompiers de Laval (qui a eu la bonne idée de déménager du Centropolis, on s'y pilait sur les pieds) et la scène musicale estivale du Centropolis.
On August 18, 2023, we went to the Festival Mosaïque de Laval which was held in the Saint-François district. We attended Marco Calliari's show (who was a surprise guest at 6 p.m.) and Élage Diouf followed at 7 p.m. We did not stay for the complete show of the singer of Senegalese origin because our activities the next morning were coming quickly and especially the call for ice cream (Crèmerie Banane Royale Arc-En-Ciel). At least the weather was nice for a rare time this summer so we took advantage of it. The next day, we were supposed to go see Urban Science Brass Band and Nomadic Massive at the same festival but it was canceled due to (surprise...) the rain. Organized by La Centrale des Artistes, this festival was in its 3rd edition. They also organize the Zones musicales in Laval, the Grande Fête des Pompiers de Laval (who had the good idea to move from the Centropolis, we crushed our feet there) and the summer music scene at the Centropolis.
Le 20 août 2023, nous nous sommes rendus au T&T dans l'arrondissement Saint-Laurent pour le Marché Asiatique qui débutait à midi le dimanche (ça se déroulait du 17 au 20 août). C'était bien rempli dans le stationnement, nous avons eu la chance de tomber sur une gentille personne qui quittait dès que nous ayons fini la première rangée. Les exposants sur place sont nombreux, l'événement a lieu à nouveau dans le Quartier Chinois de Montréal pour le dernière fin de semaine du mois d'août. Sur place, les breuvages bubble tea était populaire, les patates torsadées et différentes brochettes. Les pays représentés étaient la Chine, la Corée, les Philippines, le Japon, le Vietnam et la Thaïlande. Les prix des différents kisoques sont relativement élevées, nous avons acheter une galette de patate (qui n'était pas immense) et c'était quand même 7$. Par le fait même, c'était aussi notre première visite au T&T et peut-être la dernière (à part pour le Marché Asiatique) car je vais m'en tenir au Kim Hour ainsi qu'au Plengke.

It was busy in the parking lot, we were lucky enough to run into a nice person who was leaving as soon as we finished the first row. The exhibitors on site are numerous, the event takes place again in Montreal's Chinatown for the last weekend of August. On site, bubble tea beverages were popular, twisted potatoes and various skewers. The countries represented were China, Korea, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand. The prices of the different booths are relatively high, we bought a potato pancake (which wasn't huge) and it was still $7. By the way, it was also our first visit to T&T (their first store in Quebec, the next will be in 2024 in Brossard) and maybe the last (apart from the Asian Market) because I will stick to Kim Hour as well as Plengke both on Van Horme.

Le 21 août 2023, je me suis rendu en famille pour diner au restaurant Soleil d'Asie qui est surtout vietnamien et un peu thaïlandais. Première constatation, ce n'est pas cher, le midi il y a une petite soupe, une mini-salade avec un rouleau en plus du poulet ou boeuf grillé pour 16,50$. Il y aussi une option soupe, la petite tonkinoise à 11,50$ ou la grosse à 12,50$ (elle est chargée). Le menu du soir se tient aussi sous la barre des 20$. Pour le midi c'est du lundi au vendredi, avec en soirée également pour la semaine. La fin de semaine c'est ouvert à partir de 15h le samedi mais fermé le dimanche. Dimanche dernier, nous étions passé devant en revenant du T&T (Marché Asiatique sur 4 jours du 17 au 20 août) et c'est ce qui m'a donné l'idée d'essayer le lendemain. Alors si vous aimez la cuisine vietnamienne, c'est une bonne option car c'est santé, délicieux et abordable. C'est un endroit auquel nous allons retourner pour diner ou souper.
On August 21, 2023, I went with my family for dinner at the Soleil d'Asie restaurant on Concorde in Laval, which is mostly Vietnamese with a little bit of Thai food. First observation, it's not expensive, for lunch there is a small soup, a mini-salad with a roll in addition to grilled chicken or beef for $16.50. There is also a soup option, the small tonkinoise at $11.50 or the large one at $12.50 (it is loaded). The evening menu is also under the $20 mark. For lunch it is from Monday to Friday, with evening also for the week. On weekends it is open from 3 p.m. on Saturday but closed on Sunday. Last Sunday, we had passed by on our way back from the T&T (Asian Market over 4 days from August 17 to 20) and that's what gave me the idea to try the next day. So if you like Vietnamese cuisine, this is a good option because it's healthy, delicious and affordable. This is a place we will return without a doubt to for lunch or dinner.

Violent J is part of the duo Insane Clown Posse with Shaggy 2 Dope. Ouija Macc is an artist with Psychopathic Records which is the label of the Insane Clown Posse. I have few fond memories of Esham in the 90s with those slick album covers advertised in The Source magazine, but his 2008 song Garbitch from his 11th album Sacrificial Lambz is worth listening to. He only rapped about yabe on his first 4 albums from 1989 to 1994. Insane Clown Posse frequently cited Esham as an influence on their music. R.A. the Rugged Man was rated out of 10 by The Notorious B.I.G. in Peace magazine in 1995: The white boy??!! The one I made this jam with??? Who are you talking about? Two...maybe three, I did the song, they paid me a lot of money, that's why I did it. The rhythm was hitting.
