Aaliyah

On August 31, 2001, Aaliyah's funeral was held at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Manhattan, New York, six days after her death in a plane crash in The Bahamas. Hundreds of weeping fans march alongside the singer's casket, which is carried by a horse-drawn carriage to a private service with Gladys Knight, Lil' Kim, Sean Combs, Timbaland, and Missy Elliott in attendance. After the service, 22 doves are released in her memory, representing each year of her life.

Le 31 août 2001, les funérailles d'Aaliyah ont lieu à l'église St. Ignatius Loyola à Manhattan, New York, six jours après sa mort dans un accident d'avion aux Bahamas. Des centaines de fans en pleurs défilent aux côtés du cercueil du chanteur, qui est transporté en calèche jusqu'à un service privé en présence de Gladys Knight, Lil' Kim, Sean Combs, Timbaland et Missy Elliott. Après le service, 22 colombes sont lâchées à sa mémoire, représentant chaque année de sa vie.

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
