Marvin Gaye

On April 1, 1984, unfortunately we learned of the death of Marvin Gaye. A biopic we hope will see the light of day, but negotiations with the family should not be easy. In 2013 for the biopic on Jimi Hendrix had almost no rights to his music. While the 2014 biopic about James Brown was musically interesting but bland about anything that might have been controversial. The balance between obtaining musical rights and showing difficult parts of the artist's life is not always easy to achieve.

Le 1er avril 1984, malheureusement nous apprenions le décès de Marvin Gaye. Un biopic nous espérons verra le jour mais les négociations avec la famille ne doivent pas être faciles. En 2013 pour le biopic sur Jimi Hendrix n’avait presque aucun droit sur sa musique. Alors que le biopic de 2014 portant sur James Brown était intéressant au niveau musical mais fade sur tout ce qui aurait pu être controversé. L’équilibre entre obtenir des droits musicaux et montrer des pans difficiles de la vie de l’artiste n’est pas toujours facile à atteindre.

Soft Machine

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
