Ralph McDaniels

Born February 27, 1962, it is Ralph McDaniels’ birthday. He is the creator in 1983 of Video Music Box, the first tv program to broadcast mostly hip-hop music videos. He has also directed videos for Nas (It Ain’t Hard To Tell), Wu-Tang Clan (C.R.E.A.M.), Black Moon (Who Got The Props), among others. He also worked on the movie Juice and more recently on Roxanne, Roxanne in 2017. Soren Baker talked recently with Uncle Ralph for one of his usual flawless extremely well-informed interviews. 

Né le 27 février 1962, c’est l’anniversaire de Ralph McDaniels. Il est le créateur en 1983 de Video Music Box, la première émission de télé à diffuser surtout des vidéoclips hip-hop. Soft Machine

On August 26, 2023, Big Daddy Kane headlined a Hip Hop 50 event at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London. During the show, Kamanchi Sly from British group Hijack came on stage wearing a mask and simply stood in front of the cheering audience. Kane tolerated the interruption for a few minutes but ended up stopping the music to confront the agitator. Hijack was scheduled to perform after Big Daddy Kane. This was considered disrespectful by Hijack, which is why Sly invaded the stage. Ice-T signed  Hijack to his own Rhyme Syndicate label, they recorded and released the single "The Badman is Robbin'" (Rhyme Syndicate, 1989). The track reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. Hijack's debut album, The Horns of Jericho (Rhyme Syndicate, 1991), was recorded around the same time.
