On March 31, 2023, sadly, we learned about the death of the musical director Philip Balsam. Along with fellow Canadian Dennis Lee, Balsam wrote approximately 190 songs for the cult TV series Fraggle Rock, a few other songs were written with author Tim Wynne-Jones. The songs were sung by puppets from the show, some of them were released as an album, Fraggle Rock: Music and Magic, in 1983 (Wikipedia from All Music lists it as from 1993 but it's from 1983). A second album, Jim Henson's Muppets present Fraggle Rock, was released in 1984 , was produced by Balsam and Don Gillis. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award, which it won alongside Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends. Fraggle Rock was broadcast worldwide, and in 1989 was the first North American TV show to air in the Soviet Union. Balsam performed the voice of character Phil Fraggle on the show. Le 5 avril 2023, malheureusement nous avons appris le décès du chanteur / claviériste Booker Newberry III qui était natif de l'Ohio. Il a débuté sa carrière de chanteur professionnel dans le groupe soul Mystic Nights vers 1971. En déménageant à Philadelphie, il est devenu le chanteur principal du quatuor Sweet Thunder, qui comprenait également le batteur John Aaron, le bassiste Rudell Alexander et le guitariste Charles Buie. Le groupe a enregistré trois albums avec Fantasy / WMOT (We Men of Talent), Above the Clouds (1976), Sweet Thunder (1978) et Horizons (1979). Le groupe s'est séparé en 1979. Newberry a signé avec Casablanca Records, une etiquette new-yorkaise fondée par Neil Bogart, en 1983. En 2005, Unidisc Music (du fondateur George Cucuzzella, située à Pointe-Claire)  a sorti l'album de compilation Love Town.
